Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Respect @ Viva line?

The Respect @ Viva line is an independent service available to report inappropriate workplace behaviours such as bullying, discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment or any other inappropriate behaviours that are causing you concern.

How do I make a report?

Viva Energy has engaged an independent consultant to manage the receipt, recording and reporting of inappropriate workplace behaviours which can be made via telephone, email, internet or mail.  Stopline is an independent, confidential and impartial conduit for information that enables the reporting of inappropriate or concerning behaviours. Stopline has people experienced in handling sensitive information from stakeholders.

Do I have to give my name?

Viva Energy is committed to preventing the occurrence of harmful behaviours and ensuring a safe, inclusive and respectful workplace.  But Viva can only do that if reporters provide enough information to be able to act upon their concerns.  Viva Energy therefore encourages you to give as much detail as you can so that your concern can be thoroughly investigated and measures taken to stop any inappropriate behaviour.  It is possible for you to make an anonymous report via this service to Viva Energy.   We will not send any of your personal information unless we have your permission.  However, this may reduce the effectiveness of any investigation or measures taken to stop the behaviour you are concerned about.  Further, neither Stopline nor Viva Energy can give you any guarantee that your personal information will remain confidential throughout the process.  However, Viva Energy’s investigation process does include robust safeguards to minimise the use or disclosure of your personal information.

Who are issues reported to?

The Viva Energy Chief People & Culture Officer is responsible for ensuring that all serious complaints are handled appropriately. The Chief People & Culture Officer will assess the report and determine what action will be taken, including any investigation and any measures to stop the inappropriate behaviour.

When can I contact the Respect at Viva line?

You can call the Respect at Viva line on 1300 346 032 in Australia, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  A Stopline operator will answer your call during business hours (0800 – 1800 Mon – Fri AEST).  Any messages left with our overnight team will be responded to within one working day. You can also send your disclosure via the internet (this website), email [email protected], or mail.

As an employee, how do I know that somebody won't just make some false claim to settle a personal grudge?

The strength of the Respect at Viva line is that all reports will be professionally and independently managed by trained Stopline staff. The experience of Stopline is that vexatious reports occur very infrequently. Stopline focuses on the message, not the messenger. The Chief People & Culture Officer may decline to investigate the matter if satisfied that the disclosure is trivial, frivolous or vexatious.

Will I be kept informed about the result of making a report?

Yes. You will be kept advised about the status of the report, decisions made regarding how the matter is to be handled, time frames that apply and the result of any investigation and action taken as that information is communicated with Stopline. If you choose to remain anonymous, you will be issued with a confidential reference and password and must initiate contact through one of the methods outlined on the home page to receive feedback.
